Reign by Tana Lindsay Farkas

Hope you enjoy my LookBook for Reign Merrick, NY. My inspiration was taken from the small boutique I work at. All of the styling to the pictures were done by me. If you are ever on Long Island stop to shop till you drop. I also added in some of my personal clothing in the video and pictures from Instagram and Tumblr. I have fallen head over heels with all of the clothes and accessorizes. I also added at the end a trend that has stood out to me, nail art. I think it is so cute to spice up your nails from boring colors to incredible nail art. I even heard there is a salon near F.I.T that does the nail art.

New York Doll Lookbook

I have chosen the retail store Gypsy Warrior, located in Ridgewood New Jersey, which I stumbled upon on Instagram. I have always looked at lookbooks to get inspired in many ways.  I am using their New York Doll look book. I fell head over heels with the way they displayed the clothes. I really loved the different City backgrounds they used in the photos. For example some of the photos I loved had park scenery, back of a taxi, and the graffiti walls. Look books are used to show off the clothes on how they fit and feel and show off your product. On the website they also provide what size the model is wearing. I believe that is a different way to market their products. The clothes really resembled a New York Doll. The Gypsy Warrior image is collaborated with Rock n’ Roll and bohemian style. While researching this look book I also purchased some of the outfits from the New York Doll look book. Check out their website and follow them on Instagram.

Dash Trunk Show

Trunk shows have been around for a really long time. I remember when I was around seven years old my family and I would take a trip to Las Vegas because my father had his own Booth at the Magic Fashion tradeshow. My sisters and I would dress up in my father leather jackets for kids and be his models, it was a lot of fun. Trunk shows have been becoming very popular because they allow the fashion designer and manufactures to become involved with their customers and sell the product. Having all the visuals merchandise correctly set up in a welcoming matter many people will check out your brand and become apart of your business. Allowing your customer to get exclusive previews makes the trunk shows a special feature. While skimming through my Instagram I found out that Dash in California was holding a fall trunk show. If you’re not familiar with Dash, the Kardashian’s sisters own it. They provided their customers with exclusive looks at the new fall 2012 collection. They also included meeting and shopping with their two favorite designers. Everyone also received a discount on all the new products.

Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear

I love Marc Jacobs. I think all of his collections can be fun and sexy. Most of all marc jacobs can be very different and thats what makes his collection standout from any other brand. Showing some skin the designer proved that you dont have to be naked to be sexy. The Designer stated, "a bit of everything i love -- lots of straight lines, T-shirts." This runway show was eye popping Op Art. I loved all the colors and prints he showed. I loved all the vertical and horizontal lines on the models. Speaking of models all of them had the same hair do and same facial expressions on. I thought the models looked great and really was inspired by the 60's IT girl. Every piece was simple but with a gorgeous twist of the everyday t-shirt, skirt, and dresses. Compared to his other runway shows this one can be different in many ways and also similar. The ending of the show was pretty cool, the back wall opened up in to a mirror and all the models had an endless reflection within. Then walked out Marc himself. The show was incredible, everything looked amazing and I can't wait to shop the collection.

#5 Color and Display

An oversized sweater with Carmel brown pants. Basic jeans with a comfy cardigan.

Fun and young evening dresses and casual topped off with chunky necklaces, abstract belts and a bright leather jacket.

Another leather jacket with studs with a faded print of grey leopard on the jeans. This dress can be very casual with a pair of short booties or you can dress it up with heels and jewelry.

Bright colors jeans paired with a light grey sweater, comfy scarf, and a cross body bag. Green top with leather leggings. The boots are great for the fall and winter. I love the black and brown Steve Madden boots.
Top Shop. I love this display because there are so much layering.

My schedule can be very crazy. I am in the evening and weekend program so its easy for me to work during the day. Its either I’m at my job or at school, so I don’t have a lot of time to visit the mall. However when commuting to school I do pass many retail stores on the way. I love walking by a really good window display that catches my eye and pulls me into the store.. Some of the photos above are pictures from the boutique I work at. It’s a small store clothes store located in Merrick on Long Island. It isn’t to far from New York City. The owner and I mainly do all the window displays.  When putting together a fall window display we try to think of all the colors that fall brings us. I have put together the different color schemes for each window. The mannequins facing outside should be able to see and not blended in. The colors I have been seeing are caramel browns, turquoise, deep reds, eclectic blues, and a soft grey. I have also been seeing a lot of layering to show the customer more options. Each mannequin is covered in accessories such as scarfs, belts, necklaces, and bags. We also add to the window display with our fall boots that are available in the store. I have always got positive feed back from many people about our windows. Even from our competitors. Our customers say they can’t stop from coming in to the store because the window drives them in. I believe having an amazing color display for that season is very important because it is the reason why people are drawn in to the store.
