#5 Color and Display

An oversized sweater with Carmel brown pants. Basic jeans with a comfy cardigan.

Fun and young evening dresses and casual topped off with chunky necklaces, abstract belts and a bright leather jacket.

Another leather jacket with studs with a faded print of grey leopard on the jeans. This dress can be very casual with a pair of short booties or you can dress it up with heels and jewelry.

Bright colors jeans paired with a light grey sweater, comfy scarf, and a cross body bag. Green top with leather leggings. The boots are great for the fall and winter. I love the black and brown Steve Madden boots.
Top Shop. I love this display because there are so much layering.

My schedule can be very crazy. I am in the evening and weekend program so its easy for me to work during the day. Its either I’m at my job or at school, so I don’t have a lot of time to visit the mall. However when commuting to school I do pass many retail stores on the way. I love walking by a really good window display that catches my eye and pulls me into the store.. Some of the photos above are pictures from the boutique I work at. It’s a small store clothes store located in Merrick on Long Island. It isn’t to far from New York City. The owner and I mainly do all the window displays.  When putting together a fall window display we try to think of all the colors that fall brings us. I have put together the different color schemes for each window. The mannequins facing outside should be able to see and not blended in. The colors I have been seeing are caramel browns, turquoise, deep reds, eclectic blues, and a soft grey. I have also been seeing a lot of layering to show the customer more options. Each mannequin is covered in accessories such as scarfs, belts, necklaces, and bags. We also add to the window display with our fall boots that are available in the store. I have always got positive feed back from many people about our windows. Even from our competitors. Our customers say they can’t stop from coming in to the store because the window drives them in. I believe having an amazing color display for that season is very important because it is the reason why people are drawn in to the store.
